Watch sifl and olly11/18/2023 I was 10 years old in 1997 and we didn’t have “cable” anyway (just the basic channels: ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, UPN, WB), so it’s hazy to me how or why I even remember the show, but I recall being a big fan. Yes, a sock puppet show, but what a sock puppet show it was! As charming as it was low-budget. If you have no idea what Sifl and Olly was, the briefest and most succinct description would be: a sock-puppet show. I guess it was originally a TV thing, but now it’s definitely an internet thing. Mine has to be The Sifl and Olly Show, which was on MTV from 1997 to 1999-the days when MTV was “music television” and was funky and, often, weird (in the best sense). ![]() content aggregator/curator, before those were dirty words), this week asked people for their favorite under-the-radar internet things. McCall's "Convoy" are still there! Plus in Season 2, some Season 1 songs make a comeback in the segment Kickin' it Old School, and there was even a countdown on some of the best songs from the show too.The good folks at, site of Jason Kottke (basically the O.G. However, their covers of The Cars' "Just What I Needed" and C.W. ROCK!") They occasionally had a segment where they closed with a cover of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" (which they used as an anti-bullying message), but it was lost for some reason, as well as a few other copyrighted songs they covered. (That segment is normally titled " And Now. It's Almost the End of the Show - As mentioned by the title of the segment, it is obvious, but most importantly, other than just at the end, Sifl and Olly sing songs that are often spoofs of most popular genres or bands. Besides, I got a new pet toaster." His Michael Cera levels of weirdness made his popularity extend further in Season 2 with the addition of a segment called Letters to Chester - self-explanatory. He's so chill and in his own mind, that when Sifl killed his pet fax machine, he was all like "That's cool, he was weird anyways. S&O News - What sketch show isn't complete without a news program? Although most of the news isn't real like the Rock Facts, but it's definitely enjoyable especially when Olly says things in tune with the jingle, and the program is only done so Sifl can get recognized by his crush, then MTV News anchor Serena Altschul.Ī Word with Chester - This is the part of the show where the guys spend a little time with their kid-at-heart intern, Chester. ![]() "Precious Roy, Precious Roy, making lots of suckers out of girls and boys!" like most informercial guys, he could be a scam artist! ![]() is a crazy old man who spouts things that are unrelated to the product, finishing up his opinion with a straightforward "Suckers!" Because, you know. After taking some calls for feedback, the boys have a chat with Precious Roy himself, who. ![]() Of course, Olly really gets into his over-enthusiastic product pitching this segment, and has even been warned to calm his excessive manic salesmanship. The Precious Roy Home Shopping Network - My personal favorite segment of the show where quality is like a stinking dead rat - you just can't miss it, folks! Each episode they try to pitch a weird product that may or may not be perfect for your serious-ass everyday needs. But sometimes, not all strangers get to call them, whether it's their landlord issuing a complaint, or Olly's mom checking up on her son. And if they can't get an interview, usually it's filled in with some TV parody.Ĭalls from the Public - Caller, go ahead - what's waiting on the other line? This is a segment where the guys answer your questions from across the phone lines. Like with most adult shows, the more surreal the content is, the better. Interview Time - Sifl and Olly may not have the budget to get big name celebrities into their booth, but at least they can interview other things or talking inanimate objects hangin' around the studio. Most of the time, Olly throws a fit relating to a fact about Bjork that Sifl tries to pass off as legit! Remember, BJORK IS OFF LIMITS!! Rock Facts - Since this was released back when MTV still gave a damn about music, this had to be true, right? Well, season 1 exclusive, most of those facts are usually false or completely made up.
